The Northern Technical University organized a seminar titled (Green Technology: Iraq’s Path to Sustainable Development) under the patronage of the university president, Professor Dr. Aliyah Abbas Al-Attar, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ashti Mahdi Aref, Dean of the Technical Institute/Kirkuk. The Women’s Affairs Unit organized the seminar titled (Green Technology: Iraq’s Path to Sustainable Development).
The speakers included:
1- Ms. Najiba Muhammad Rashid, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit.
2- Ms. Hadeel Ali Hassan, Member of the Coordinating Committee of the Women’s Affairs Unit.
The seminar highlighted that green technology encompasses technologies designed to reduce negative environmental impacts. These innovations include renewable energy systems, sustainable transportation, and recycling using modern techniques.
The seminar aimed to familiarize attendees and students with applications of green technology, which include renewable energy systems and the establishment of solar and wind energy stations to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and improve energy consumption efficiency. It also focused on developing buildings that rely on solar panels and advanced thermal insulation systems, as well as wastewater treatment. Conceptually, wastewater treatment is similar to water purification. Wastewater treatment is very important as it purifies water according to pollution levels. Heavily polluted water is not used for anything, while less polluted water is provided to places that require significant water use.
