The Northern Technical University holds an introductory seminar titled (Understanding the Course System and How to Calculate Credit Hours) under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Aliyah Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Technical Institute of Kirkuk, Assistant Professor Dr. Ashti Mahdi Aref. The Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit, in collaboration with the Electrical Technologies Department, organized an introductory seminar titled (Understanding the Course System and How to Calculate Credit Hours).
The seminar was presented by:
Mr. Abbas Abdullah Abbas
and Mr. Muhammad Nawzad Abdullah / Head of the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit.
The seminar highlighted:
This seminar addresses the concept of academic courses in general and their types, including compulsory and elective courses, as well as their divisions such as (university courses, institute courses, and departmental courses) and how students can select them through the electronic system (SIS). It also clarified that the number of credit hours for each course corresponds to the number of hours of the course itself, and that the distribution of grades varies from one course to another. Some courses are purely theoretical, while others are purely practical, and there are also specialized courses that combine both theoretical and practical aspects.
The seminar aims to:
Clarify the mechanism for selecting academic courses and the number of credit hours that students must complete at both levels to fulfill graduation requirements, as well as to specify the number of attempts allowed for students.
The seminar recommended:
The necessity for students to complete graduation requirements within the specified time frame and not to exceed it, as this could lead to the cancellation of the student’s enrollment.
