The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdel-Saheb, received Mr. Alireza Kony, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Baghdad, and they discussed areas of cooperation between the educational institutions of the two countries.

At the outset of the meeting, the Minister of Education congratulated the Ambassador and his accompanying delegation on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan and expressed his hope that peace would prevail over all the peoples of the region and the world.

He reiterated the readiness of the ministry and its academic institutions for scientific and academic coordination, exchange of cultural relations and experiences, and development of areas that serve the two countries according to the contexts and mechanisms of bilateral cooperation.

The two sides agreed, in the presence of the Director-General of the Department of Missions and Cultural Relations, to form a joint committee to determine priorities and update the details required for the two parties to renew the agreement between Iraq and Turkey in the fields of higher education and scientific research.

In turn, the Ambassador affirmed the desire of the Turkish side to develop the course of academic relations between the two countries, consolidate scientific understanding between Iraqi and Turkish universities, and develop programs related to scholarships and fellowships.
