Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Administrative Technical College, Assistant Professor Dr. Samir Taha Yassin, the Quality Assurance Division organized a symposium entitled “Sustainable Environment” delivered by:

The teacher, Dr. Wejdan Hassan Hammoudi, and the seminar was attended by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Samir Taha Yassin, and a number of the college’s teachers.

The symposium presented a set of axes, the most prominent of which are the presentation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its seventeen goals, which gained international consensus in September 2015 as a road map with a strategic vision for countries and actors to devote efforts to create a world in which everyone enjoys equality and sustainable prosperity, while preserving the resources of our planet from Inefficient and unfair attrition for future generations.

The symposium came out with several recommendations, including:

1. Confirmation of the government’s announcement of the continuation of the steps towards Iraq’s return to the international arena and looking forward to achieving development whose fruits are equitably distributed among groups and regions without marginalization or exclusion.
2. Diagnose the challenges facing the achievement of sustainable development goals, especially those related to the sustainable development plan, and the potential competition between them and the urgent national spending and reconstruction requirements, in an unstable environment.
3. Provide a brief description of the process of achieving sustainable development goals and their indicators at the national level, and the steps that the government and its partners will follow in this way.
