Northern Technical University Organizes an Educational Seminar on Drugs.

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Alyaa Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of the University, the Psychological Guidance Division and the Security Permits Department, in collaboration with the Chemical and Petroleum Technologies Department, organized an educational seminar titled “The Role of Youth in Combating Drugs.”

During the seminar, the speaker, Surji Muawiya Fakhri, Head of the Narcotics Department at the National Security Directorate, discussed the dangers of this scourge to society, explaining the laws and penalties that drug traffickers and dealers face. He emphasized that the law does not spare those who jeopardize community safety but understands that users are victims of drug criminals, leaving the judgment to the discretion of the judiciary regarding those who turn themselves in and seek treatment to overcome addiction.

Additionally, Lieutenant Hassan Ahmed, representative of the Security for Universities and Institutes in Nineveh, spoke about the risks posed by this scourge, particularly targeting university students. He urged caution against those who deceive students into addiction, which ultimately benefits the trade and profits at the expense of the youth’s lives and futures. He stressed the importance of cooperating with security authorities to report suspicious cases.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Abdul Nasir Abdul Razzaq Keshmoula, Dean of the Mosul Technical Institute, distributed certificates of appreciation to the presenters.

Furthermore, the Northern Technical University has developed a strategic plan to combat drugs, which includes seminars and awareness workshops conducted in collaboration with the National Security Directorate and the Sunni Endowment since the beginning of the current academic year.
