Northern Technical University Organizes a Workshop on the Mechanism of Transition to Electronic Payment
Under the patronage of the President of Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the Department of Auditing and Internal Control, along with the Women’s Affairs Division, organized a workshop on the mechanism of transitioning to electronic payment.
The workshop covered:
Raising awareness among employees of governmental and private sector institutions on the use of MasterCards for shopping, at fuel stations, for domestic and international financial transfers, and the use of technologies, especially POS devices, for collecting fees and charges at the university.
The workshop addressed:
The role of the Central Bank of Iraq in supervising governmental and private banks, noting that the bank does not deal directly with individuals. Through the electronic payment committee, the bank works to educate citizens on the necessity of using cards in all financial and banking transactions. The bank also mandates all banks to install ATMs to facilitate transactions for citizens and employees.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations, including:
Financial transfers should be conducted through banks.
Citizens should avoid borrowing from unofficial outlets and verify the legitimacy and licenses of any outlets they deal with.
