Northern Technical University organizes a workshop entitled Exploitation of limited places in the home to produce vegetables and ornamental plants

Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the Women Empowerment Unit at the Presidency of our University, in cooperation with the Agricultural Technical College, organized a workshop entitled

(Exploitation of limited places at home to produce vegetables and ornamental plants) via the Meet online platform.

The lecture is delivered by the teacher, Dr. Khawla Mahmoud Al-Nouh.

The workshop addressed the importance of growing vegetables, but they are faced with a lack of resources and space, and from an economic point of view, food projects, primarily agricultural, will continue.

Studies have concluded that the demand for food has increased significantly, so it is necessary to have a small and continuous agricultural project to obtain a large income.

  1. The project we are talking about is rare in Iraq. It is rarely used, except for hydroponics, which is a type of agriculture in which soil is not used but instead grow plants in a medium of nutrients dissolved in water.
  2. The advantages of this agriculture are the possibility of investing it anywhere and providing a solution to the problem of the high price of agricultural land, machinery, equipment, fertilizers, etc., and it also provides manpower, pesticides, and sterilization tools.
  3. Many studies have proven the possibility of producing approximately thirty tons of vegetables annually in an area of 70 square meters using this technology.

Among these vegetables produced commercially in this way are cucumbers, tomatoes, and strawberries, in addition to leafy greens such as Lahaina, lettuce, and celery…
