Northern Technical University Organizes a Seminar on Cyber Extortion

Under the patronage of the President of Northern Technical University, Aliya Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Security Permits and Follow-up Department, organized a seminar on cyber extortion and its dangers to female students.
The seminar, held in collaboration with the Nineveh Security Directorate, was titled “Cyber Extortion and Its Risks to Female Students.” It aimed to raise awareness among female students about the dangers of cyber extortion and to highlight its psychological, social, and legal consequences.
The seminar sought to introduce the concept of cyber extortion and its various forms that female students may encounter online, particularly through social media platforms and digital applications. It also explained the methods used by extortionists to lure victims and entrap them.
Furthermore, the seminar addressed the negative impacts of cyber extortion on victims, including psychological effects such as stress, anxiety, and loss of self-confidence, as well as its social and academic repercussions. In addition, it shed light on the legal aspects and the penalties imposed on perpetrators of such crimes under applicable laws
