The President of the Northern Technical University visits the French Embassy in Baghdad

Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University, visited His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of France in Iraq, Mr. Eric Chevalier, accompanied on the visit by Dr. Hassan Karim Abdel Rahman, Head of the Computer Systems Techniques Department at the Kirkuk Technical Institute, and in the presence of Mr. David Lassig, the French attaché for scientific and university cooperation, and Ms. Salwa Nakouzi And Mrs. Alexandra Duchen from the Department of Cooperation and Cultural Activity at the French Embassy in Iraq. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the scientific and academic fields in general. At first, the French Ambassador, Eric Chevalier, welcomed the president of the university and pointed out the importance of the opening of the French Francophone corner at our university and the importance of the French language in communication and research cooperation with French research centers and universities.

During his recent speech, he stressed his serious desire to support and develop the Northern Technical University, as it is a large university, as the number of its students reaches more than 27 thousand students, and it includes many colleges and technical institutes.

 With a variety of engineering, medical, and administrative disciplines, as well as agricultural disciplines, he praised Haditha for the distinguished role of the president of the university and her tireless work in developing all university formations.

The president of the university presented to the French ambassador a letter of the university grant to accept foreign students to our university within the study of the bachelor’s and master’s studies for free, with the provision of university housing as well. In French laboratories and a visit to some technical universities to conclude scientific cooperation and research agreements, the French side expressed its full support for this project, and procedures will be initiated to achieve this project. Third: The Cyber ​​Security Project. In her conversation with His Excellency the French Ambassador, Her Excellency indicated the success of our university in obtaining a training grant in this field and indicated the university’s need to equip this project with devices and equipment to complete the project. As for the fourth project: the food and water security project, where the French side showed its keen interest in these projects, especially the food and water security project, and the French side announced the French embassy in Iraq to hold an exhibition on the topic (rebuilding together – sharing water) and that the invitation was sent to the Ministry of Higher Education and Research Scientific. The Ambassador pointed out the necessity of holding a mini-meeting in the meeting room with Mr. David Lassig, the French attache for scientific and university cooperation, Ms. Salwa Nakouzi, and Ms. Alexandra Duchen in the Department of Cooperation and Cultural Activity at the French Embassy in Iraq. We moved to the meeting room at the embassy to present the projects submitted by our university more broadly, exchange views on the mechanism of implementation, and fix the most important paragraphs that the university needs from the French side to complete these projects. After the mini-meeting, it was agreed on the importance of expanding cooperation relations with France in the academic and scientific field, stressing that there is a great opportunity to enhance cooperation in other academic fields such as medicine and postgraduate studies and the French scientific participation in scientific conferences held by the university on an ongoing basis to benefit from French expertise in several scientific fields.

At the end of the visit, the President of the Northern Technical University thanked the French ambassador and the French government for supporting scientific and academic relations with the Northern Technical University. And the cultural activity in the French embassy in all of Iraq.
