Northern Technical University takes the initiative to restore pistachio cultivation to our province of Nineveh
Today, the President of Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, launched a pioneering initiative in the field of agriculture, in the presence of the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, the Dean of the Agricultural Technical College, the Dean of the Medical Technical Institute of Mosul, and his assistants… The initiative aimed to replant the pistachio tree in our dear governorate. Nineveh, after the governorate witnessed a decline in agriculture over the years, this initiative was launched at the Agricultural Technical College thanks to the wonderful efforts of the work team in the Technology Incubator and Ecosystem Division, where 400 trees were planted in the college, and trees were distributed to 15 beneficiaries from multiple villages. In Al-Hamdaniya, Nimrud, Tal Afar and Zummar.
This step comes within our university’s efforts to contribute to promoting agriculture and stimulating environmental sustainability in the governorate, as the University President confirmed through her speech that our university used to have an imprint in Nineveh Governorate, specifically in the field of the environment, as it undertook many initiatives in the field of afforestation, combating desertification, and increasing areas. Green and resistant to climate change, today also in a different way, is reviving pistachio cultivation, and the university president expressed her hope that this initiative will contribute to stimulating local farms and improving the quality of life for the community.
