Northern Technical University Holds Sustainability Committee Meeting Chaired by the University President

The Sustainability Committee at Northern Technical University, operating within the institutional framework under the Sustainability and Inclusion Council (SIC), held its regular meeting chaired by the University President, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, with the attendance of the Vice Presidents for Scientific, Administrative, and Financial Affairs, as well as committee members including heads of administrative departments and representatives from all university units.

This meeting was convened as part of the university’s commitment to strengthening institutional sustainability governance and activating the role of the Sustainability Committee as the central body responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring sustainability initiatives across the university.

During the meeting, several key strategic topics were discussed, including:

Reviewing and updating the institutional sustainability plan
Discussing sustainability-related activities and initiatives across colleges and university units
Monitoring sustainability performance indicators (KPIs)
Enhancing the integration of sustainability into teaching, research, and community engagement

The committee also emphasized the importance of aligning institutional efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that all sustainability initiatives are implemented within a unified and strategic framework to maximize impact.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed mechanisms to strengthen the committee’s institutional role through:
