Development of an Intelligent Model for Visually Impaired Person Guidance
The dissertation presented by a graduate student (Wissam Saad Mohammed) examined the development of a smart model to guide the visually impaired using low-power devices (Jetson Nano) and a depth camera (Real sense camera D435) during the implementation of the model to detect doors and categorize them into three categories (closed, semi-closed). closed and closed) in real-time using deep learning methods and also measuring distance by extracting image depth using (YOLOV5S) algorithm
The message was intended to help the visually impaired move safely in indoor environments by using audio notifications to inform the person about the doors and their condition.
The letter recommended using faster algorithms to achieve more frame counts and also training the model on other new data.
A part of the discussion was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Maged Khalil Najm, and the Head of the Computer Technologies Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Ziad Khalaf Farag, and El-Sayed, Head of the Medical Device Technologies Engineering Department, Prof.Dr. Muhammad Sabah Gerges and several faculty members and graduate students.
