Mosul Technical Institute organizes a seminar on chronic diseases

Under the auspices of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Mosul Technical Institute, Assistant Professor Shahla Abdul-Wahhab Abdul-Qader, the Department of Nursing Techniques organized a seminar on chronic diseases
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Rifai Yassin Hamid
The episode dealt with:
Chronic conditions are health problems that require continuous treatment over years or even decades. Based on this concept, chronic conditions include a wide range of conditions that may appear outwardly as sporadic health problems that go beyond the traditional concept of chronic diseases, namely:

  • Permanent communicable diseases: such as HIV/AIDS,
  • Permanent non-communicable diseases: such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and diabetes.
  • Some mental illnesses: such as depression and schizophrenia.
  • Persistent structural disorders: including, for example, amputation, vision loss, and joint disorders.
    The course came out with several recommendations:
    Early detection of chronic disease.
  • Increased motor activity and lack of stagnation.
  • Adhering to a quantitatively and qualitatively healthy diet.
  • Avoid smoking and its derivatives.
    Monitor blood tests such as sugar, lipids, and blood pressure.
  • Avoid overweight and obesity.
