Under the direction of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the committee made an inspection visit to the Technical Agricultural College and the Mosul Technical Medical Institute to view the two libraries, represented by the Institutional Accreditation Committee in the University’s Branch Libraries headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mawjoud Al-Badrani. The committee was received by Professor Dr. Shihab Ahmed Al-Bajari, Dean of the Technical Agricultural College, and Assistant Professor Dr. Haitham Abdullah Al-Khafaji, Assistant Dean of the Mosul Technical Medical Institute. The discussion included:
1. The importance of having a paper and electronic library that benefits researchers, students and graduate students, managed by a specialist in the field of information and libraries.
2. The work of an organizational structure (administrative and technical) was discussed, including four units specific to the library.
3. Equipping the library with modern computers and installing the global Koha system.
4. Creating an electronic page for the library that is linked to the central library website.
5. Assigning a liaison member to be in contact with the central library to review the library’s work and developments.
6. The development of a guide for librarians was discussed, each guide containing (the library’s mission, vision and objectives) in addition to the information services provided by the library.
7. The conditions for physical and environmental health and safety procedures when designing the library building were discussed.
8. The formation of special committees to develop the library was discussed.
9. The mechanism for providing a budget to purchase recent editions of books and periodicals was discussed. Finally, if the above points are achieved, the library will have achieved the conditions for national institutional accreditation/standard six/element seven/specific to libraries…
10. The officials of the Library Development Committee promised to complete the above points within a short period.
