For the first time at the level of Iraqi universities, the President of the Northern Technical University becomes the Vice President of the Regional Conference of Francophone University Presidents in the Middle East.
The Northern Technical University, represented by its President, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, participated in the second meeting of the Office of Francophone University Presidents in the Middle East, where she holds the position of Vice President of the Regional Conference of Francophone University Presidents in the Middle East. The meeting was attended by Mr. Jean-Noël Balieu, Regional Director of the Francophone University Agency in the Middle East, Mr. Salim Daccache, President of the Regional Conference of University Presidents in the Middle East, members of the Office of Francophone University Presidents in the Middle East, and the heads of the four thematic committees in the office: the Research Committee, the International Cooperation Committee, the Quality Assurance and Institutional Accreditation Committee, and the Mediation and Conflict Management Committee. Also in attendance were Dr. Hassan Maysar Qasim, Director of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Hazem Mohammed, Head of the Francophone Unit, and Ms. Rana Ghanem Abdul, Head of the Twinning Unit in the Cultural Relations Division.
The meeting discussed many important matters related to the tasks of the Office of Francophone University Presidents in the Middle East, foremost among them the preparation for the second C2R-MO conference and related topics and programs, which will be held at the beginning of October in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The heads of the thematic committees presented their suggestions, plans, and updates regarding their committees, and the date for the next C2R-MO Office meeting was set for June.
Attendees raised numerous questions and discussions about the future challenges of the Francophone University Agency in the Middle East, the work plans, and workshops to be held in the coming months. They also discussed how to implement the Francophone offers and grants in practice. Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University, delivered a speech thanking the agency for the invitation and emphasizing the role of the thematic committees in developing the agency’s work and shaping its future plans.
In conclusion, Mr. Jean-Noël Balieu, Regional Director of the Francophone University Agency in the Middle East, thanked the attendees and praised the crucial role played by the members of the Office of Francophone University Presidents in following up, developing, and solidifying the foundations of the agency in the Middle East.
