2025-04-24Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Alia’a al-Attar, the President of Northern Technical University, and the supervision of Dr. Abdul Nasser Kashmola, the Dean of Mosul Technical Institute, The Department of Network and Computer Software Techniques organized a seminar entitled “Environmentally Friendly Smart Cities” as part of the Sustainable Development Program held by the Quality Assurance Department at the Northern Technical University and the Quality Assurance Division of the Institute.
The seminar aimed to: Raise participants’ awareness of the concept of environmentally friendly smart cities. • Review the most prominent successful global initiatives in this field. • Encourage innovative thinking in developing sustainable solutions for infrastructure and urban services. • Promote the adoption of policies that support the transition towards sustainable and climate-resilient cities.
Seminar Recommendations:
- Investing in smart and sustainable infrastructure: It is necessary to support projects that rely on renewable energy, smart lighting technologies, sustainable transportation networks, and energy-efficient green buildings.
- Promoting partnership between the public and private sectors: To provide the necessary funding and technologies for implementing smart environmental solutions and to ensure the continuity of innovation and the expansion of the scope of implementation.
- Raising community awareness of sustainability practices: Through educational campaigns and initiatives that encourage residents to adopt correct environmental behaviors such as recycling and using public transportation and bicycles.
- Promoting scientific and technical research in this field: By supporting universities and research centers to produce innovative solutions that serve the transition towards smarter and more sustainable cities.
