A New Scientific Achievement at Northern Technical University.

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its academic standing and support sound scientific research, Northern Technical University has achieved a distinguished scientific achievement, adding to its scientific and cognitive portfolio.
Assistant Professor Mohammed Ihsan Majeed, a lecturer at the Technical Medical Institute/Mosul/Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, was able to publish a solid scientific research paper with the international publishing house Springer-Nature, in collaboration with an international research team.

“Hydrothermal Preparation of Molybdenum Oxide (MoO₃), Cerium Oxide (CeO₂), and a Nanocomposite for Thymol Blue Adsorption and Anticancer and Antibacterial Activities”

✦ Research Summary:
Nanoparticles of Cerium Oxide, Molybdenum Oxide, and a mixed nanocomposite were prepared bioactively using turmeric extract.
The results demonstrated outstanding physical and chemical properties, with particle sizes ranging from 17 to 36 nanometers and high purity.
Experiments demonstrated the ability of these particles to remove the harmful thymol blue dye from water with high efficiency, consistent with scientific adsorption models.
They also demonstrated antibacterial activity against E. coli and Bacillus subtilis, as well as anticancer activity against Caco-2 and MCF-7 cells, with growth inhibition values ranging from 11 to 44 µg/ml.
