Under the auspices of Dr. Aliaa Alattar, Rector of NTU, and under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Shahla Abdulwahab, Dean of Mosul Technical Institute, the Women Empowerment Unit, in collaboration with the Mechanical Engineering Department and the Nineveh Health Department/General Hospital, organized a symposium entitled:

- Controllable factors: These included weight management, diet, and avoiding medications that may increase the risk, such as hormonal medications.
- Uncontrollable factors: The symposium also acknowledged the role of aging as a factor beyond personal control.

The symposium concluded with several recommendations:
- Regular check-ups: The need for routine check-ups to detect and manage the disease before it progresses was strongly emphasized.
- Inter-departmental cooperation: The symposium recommended collaboration between all governmental departments, especially the health department, to provide free check-ups for female employees within the governorate.
- Lifestyle modifications: Participants were encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle, including regular physical activity and avoiding known risk factors.
In essence, the symposium aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer, promote early detection, and encourage preventive measures to improve the health outcomes of women.
