University President Honors Student for Securing Second Place Worldwide at Startup Weekend Mosul 2026.

The President of Northern Technical University,Prof.Dr. Aliya Abbas Ali Al-Attar, honored a student from the Technical Engineering College of Mosul, Waadullah Mushriq Saleh, who is registered with the college’s Technology Incubator Unit, in recognition of his outstanding global achievement in securing second place at Startup Weekend Mosul 2026.
The event witnessed wide participation from entrepreneurs, programmers, and specialists from various universities and disciplines, aiming to foster innovation and transform entrepreneurial ideas into executable projects within an intensive timeframe.
This distinction was achieved through his entrepreneurial project Iraq Gate
the largest tourism platform in Iraq, launched for the first time as a smart guide and personal assistant that accompanies users step by step. The platform provides detailed information and locations of archaeological sites, along with diverse services including hotels, restaurants, tourism companies, electronic tourist tickets, and many other integrated services.
The event was held within an intensive 54-hour program and implemented at the Mosul Center for Culture and Science, in partnership with GIZ Iraq, under the Team Europe Initiative TAEUFIQ, with joint funding from the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany.
