Northern Technical University Council held its ninth session for the current academic year.
2025-04-23The Department of Surveying Techniques, in collaboration with the Technology Incubator Unit, organized a seminar entitled:
(Aerial Image Correction in Geographic Information Systems Software)
- Understanding the Fundamentals of Aerial Image Correction: To introduce participants to the concept of aerial image correction and elucidate its significance within diverse Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications.
- Mastering Diverse Correction Methodologies and Techniques: To review and explicate the various methodologies and techniques employed in aerial image correction, encompassing geometric correction utilizing Ground Control Points (GCPs) and Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), and radiometric correction for the enhancement of color and brightness fidelity.
- Practical Implementation on GIS Software Platforms: To equip participants with the requisite practical skills for the execution of aerial image correction processes through the application of specialized functionalities and tools inherent in prevalent GIS software platforms such as ArcGIS.
Recommendations:
- Emphasis on the Influence of Correction Quality on Analyses: It is imperative to underscore that the precision of aerial image correction directly influences the accuracy of spatial analyses and the resultant inferences derived therefrom in various GIS applications.
- Encouragement of Continuous Professional Development: It is recommended to foster the necessity of remaining abreast of advancements in aerial imaging technologies and GIS software through participation in training courses and workshops.
