2023-05-08Tuesday, May 2, 2023 The master’s thesis was discussed at the Northern Technical University, focusing on designing a smart grid system based on renewable energies to support and manage energy.
The thesis, presented by the graduate student (Dina Khaled Hashem), explored a smart grid system that relies on renewable energy sources to support the management of the main power grid. This was achieved by connecting a number of solar cells with wind turbines, while covering the load requirements with renewable energy sources.
The objectives of the thesis were as follows:
Managing energy and reducing the consumption of the main power grid by relying on wind and solar energy sources, with priority given to solar cells.
The thesis recommended the following:
Increasing the use of renewable energies as an alternative to traditional energy sources that contribute to weather-related issues and increased pollution.
Exploring new algorithms that can address energy management challenges. Improving the management of hybrid renewable energy systems by providing energy to a larger number of users, improving power factor, and reducing unwanted distortions and frequencies.
The discussion committee included the following members:
Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Jad’an Ali (Chairperson)
Assistant Professor Dr. Yaser Mohammed Younis (Member, University of Mosul/Faculty of Engineering)
Assistant Professor Sinabel Mohsen Ali (Member)
Prof Dr. Mohammed Yahya Suleiman (Member and Supervisor)
Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Hazem Mohammed (Member and Supervisor)
