Northern Technical University Strengthens Its Leadership by Concluding the Work-Based Training (WBT) Program

Under the patronage of the esteemed President of Northern Technical University, Dr. Alyaa Abbas Ali Al-Atar, the university hosted the concluding event of the Work-Based Training (WBT) program, which was implemented in partnership with the “Tawasul” project. This event was marked by extensive academic and partnership attendance, reflecting the success of the experience and its impact on empowering youth and preparing them for the labor market.

The event was attended by deans from colleges and institutes, along with representatives from private sector companies and institutions involved in executing the training program. Additionally, students and graduates who completed a two-month training program were present. This program was carried out by the Employment and Follow-Up Division at the university’s presidency and associated units in Mosul, Kirkuk, and Al-Hawija.

During the event, the university president emphasized that Northern Technical University continues to adopt pioneering programs that enhance the link between education and practical experience, and support strategic partnerships with the private sector. This commitment stems from its responsibility to prepare a generation capable of meeting labor market demands and handling professional responsibilities efficiently and confidently.

Furthermore, project officials highlighted, through a speech by Mr. Samuel Landon, Senior Director at the World University Service of Canada (WUSC), the pivotal role played by Northern Technical University in implementing the work-based training model. They provided a genuine training environment that enables trainees to acquire practical experiences, enhancing their job readiness. He affirmed that this experience represents a successful model of collaboration between universities, international institutions, and the private sector.

The event concluded with a presentation of the outputs and objectives achieved by the trainees during the training program. Participants, including representatives from private sector companies, students, and graduates, were honored with appreciation plaques and participation certificates to recognize their contribution to the success of this distinguished activity. This also underscored the university’s commitment to continue supporting initiatives that bridge the gap between education outputs and labor market needs, reinforcing its leading role in skill development and capacity building.
