President of Northern Technical University Attends part of a master’s thesis defence on “Experimental Study of a Solar-Driven Heat Pump System” .

In her commitment to academic excellence and her continuous support for postgraduate students, the President of Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, attended the defense session of a master’s thesis at the Engineering Technical College / Mosul, Department of Thermal Engineering Technologies, titled:

“Experimental Investigation of Solar Driven Heat Pump System.”

The thesis, presented by the researcher Ihsan Mohammed Ali Ibrahim, included a comprehensive experimental study evaluating the performance and economic feasibility of a hybrid thermal system powered by solar energy, and comparing it with conventional thermal systems.

The study aimed to contribute scientifically to the integration of renewable energy sources with thermal systems, with the objective of improving energy efficiency and reducing operating costs. It also addressed major challenges facing traditional systems, such as low efficiency, high operating costs, and their associated negative environmental impacts.

The thesis concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which was the adoption of hybrid solar-powered thermal systems in residential and governmental buildings due to their effective role in improving operational efficiency, reducing electrical energy consumption, and minimizing dependence on fossil fuels, while also ensuring high economic feasibility upon their application.

The discussion committee consisted of:

Prof. Dr. Omar Rafee Mahmood — Chairman

Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mahmood Abdullah — Member

Asst. Prof. Ahmed Mustafa Saleem — Member

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nabeel Mukhlif Abdulrazaq — Member and Supervisor
