On the occasion of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week, the Northern Technical University organized the National Anti-Drug Forum and Community Awareness Initiative.

Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alyaa Abbas Al-Attar, the university organized the National Forum for Combating Drugs and Building Community Awareness, coinciding with the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week, which aims to strengthen national efforts to confront this dangerous phenomenon.

The forum witnessed wide participation from state institutions, as well as security, health, and educational bodies, in addition to specialized academics and researchers. The sessions addressed key themes related to the societal impacts of drugs, methods of prevention, and the shared responsibility of promoting awareness among youth.

In her opening speech, the University President emphasized that organizing this forum reflects the university’s social responsibility and its mission to protect and educate students. She stressed that combating drugs requires unified national action among all institutions to build strong generations capable of facing emerging challenges.

The forum included presentations and scientific lectures on the health, legal, and social dimensions of drug use, as well as discussions on initiatives and workshops that contribute to raising awareness among students and the wider community about the dangers of addiction and ways to curb its spread.

At the conclusion of the event, participants commended the Northern Technical University for adopting pioneering awareness initiatives and for strengthening the role of education in building an informed society capable of reducing drug use and promoting community security.
