The University Highlights an Exceptional Success Story: The University President as a Role Model

In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Northern Technical University highlights an exceptional success story, presenting the University President as a role model.

In alignment with the Ministry’s instructions regarding the implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security – Recovery Pillar, the Northern Technical University sheds light on the success stories of women leaders who have formed inspiring models of dedication and excellence.

The Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Media and Government Communication Department, organized a dialogue session to highlight the success story of an Iraqi woman and a distinguished academic figure who has demonstrated a strong presence, influential discourse, and prudent leadership throughout her professional career, becoming a positive role model for society in general and for women in particular.

She is Professor Dr. Aliya Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University.

This meeting, moderated by Dr. Ru’ya Nahidh Hamad, addressed the most prominent milestones in her academic and administrative career, which have left a clear imprint on the leadership of the University. She presented exemplary models through her multiple achievements, most notably the establishment of new colleges and modern scientific departments that keep pace with and rival their counterparts in Iraqi universities, contributing effectively to the advancement of technical education and the service of the community.

Today, we speak of a woman for whom success was not a mere coincidence, but rather the result of determination, ambition, and diligent work. Through this, she proved that leadership is not linked to gender, but to enlightened thinking, a clear vision, and the ability to make decisions and exert a positive influence on others. The session also included several interventions by female staff members of the University, who discussed the achievements delivered by the University President since assuming the administration of the University.

Despite the professional and social challenges she faced, she chose to turn them into a starting point for excellence rather than an obstacle, recording her name as the first woman to assume the position of University President in Iraq. She thereby affirmed that Iraqi women are capable of leadership, creating success, and building a promising future for generations to come.
