2023-07-23The technical master’s thesis at the Northern Technical University discusses a wireless communication system based on the Internet of Things to monitor the net water pumping network of the city of Mosul
A technical master’s thesis was discussed at the Engineering Technical College, Mosul, specializing in computer technology engineering, and tagged “I.O.T system to monitor the pumping efficiency of mousl pure water network”
The thesis submitted by the researcher (Mohammed Qais Hussein Fawzi) examined the design and implementation of a wireless communication system based on the Internet of Things (IOT) to monitor and manage pumping efficiency in the water distribution networks in the city of Mosul. It includes pressure sensors and the strength of the water flow. It works to monitor the work of stations and water production projects.
The thesis aimed to preserve the water of the distribution network from waste or damage, increase pumping efficiency, and improve the efficiency of pumping stations by monitoring their work in real time.
The thesis showed that the system consists of three main parts (Measurement Points, Cloud Server, and Local Cloud) that together provide security, reliability, and redundancy in communication to realize data monitoring and storage.
The message recommended:-
1. Adding additional pressure and flow sensors in the water distribution network and stations to increase information collection, improve pumping efficiency and reduce water losses.
2. Adding water level sensors to tanks and improving the management of water sources in times of emergency.
3. Design an independent IoT cloud for the directorate to increase security and complete control.
4. Develop a mobile app with accessibility features tailored to users depending on their location.
5. Using artificial intelligence to improve monitoring of pumping efficiency by analyzing sensor readings in the water network.
Part of the discussion was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Majed Khalil Najm, the administrative assistant, the head of the Medical Devices Engineering Department, and a number of faculty members and postgraduate students.
The discussion committee consisted of the following gentlemen:
– Assistant Professor Dr. Ziad Khalaf Faraj / Chairman
– Assistant Professor Dr. Mayada Faris Ghanem Muhammad / member
– Assistant Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Shehab / member
– Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Sattar Muhammad Khader / member and supervisor
