2023-04-28The Technical Institute of Kirkuk organized a scientific course entitled “Introduction to Basic Steps of Print Extraction Using GIS Software….
The event was sponsored by the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Aliaa Abbas Ali Al-Atar, and supervised by the Dean of the Technical Institute of Kirkuk, Assistant Professor Dr. Aashti Mahdi Aref.
The course was presented by four individuals including Mr. Ahmed Fathi Omar, Ms. Ghada Hassan Mohamed Fathi, Ms. Amal Nashat Shaker, and Engineer Saad Abdul Salam. The course highlighted the importance of Geographic Information System (GIS) software in dealing with maps and how to make modifications and corrections to them, extract coordinate systems (X, Y), and link them to office programs such as Excel. The course also covered how to design a map on A4 or A3 paper size for suitable printing output (layout), as well as how to work with Google Earth software.
The course aimed to demonstrate the importance of practical software in dealing with maps and coordinate points in the field of surveying engineering and several other fields, including civil engineering, environmental departments, remote sensing, and others.
The course recommended attending the event to learn how to use and develop skills in GIS and Google Earth software, as they are essential programs for drawing road paths, finding coordinates, providing logical solutions for land division, estimating and choosing the appropriate place for work such as schools or residential complexes, and linking them with office programs. These programs are widely used in many disciplines, especially in surveying, civil engineering, and environmental fields.
The course was attended by a large number of members and specialists in the field.
