The President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, participated in the second international scientific conference entitled “Women and Climate Change”. Challenges and Solutions, which was sponsored by the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers / the Iraqi Women Empowerment Department with the support of the United Nations Development Program, which was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Women Empowerment Department.
The activities of the conference began with the speech of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, followed by the speech of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and then the speech of the United Nations Development Program, followed by the speech of the President of the University in this regard, through which she emphasized the significant role of women and the great responsibility they have in this regard after it became a problem of change The climate issue is the most important and most dangerous issue on the list of international problems, which in turn imposes mandatory cooperation between the countries of the world to limit its repercussions, especially after its recent increase in frequency and the arrival of the summer season.
The conference included several axes and sessions, through which it shed light on the international and national efforts to take scientific and practical measures to confront the effects of climate change and to enable women to participate in decision-making related to environmental protection.
