The President of Northern Technical University inaugurates the Namrood area that belongs to the Northern Technical University after 34 years of neglect.

In a historic step aimed at reviving Iraqi heritage, the President of Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, inaugurated the Namrood area today. The opening ceremony was attended by the Director of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, representatives of UNDP and Aswar Al-Nahda Company, and the deans of the university’s colleges and institutes. After 34 years of neglect and closure, however, with modern efforts and continuous, diligent follow-up, the dream comes true.
In her speech at the opening ceremony, the President of the University emphasized that the reopening of the Namrood site represents a victory for Iraqi cultural identity and an indication of the university’s commitment to its role in preserving and promoting cultural heritage through cooperation with relevant local and international bodies.
The opening ceremony witnessed announcing future plans to develop this area and transform it into an educational and research center open to university students and visitors to Iraq from around the world. It’s worth noting that this area has been subjected to significant neglect over the past decades, in addition to the damage it sustained as a result of terrorist attacks in recent years. However, reconstruction and restoration efforts are beginning to show great results as part of development and cultural projects undertaken by the Technical University.
