The President of Northern Technical University and her accompanying delegation are hosted by Gulf College in the Sultanate of Oman. 

The President of Northern Technical University and her accompanying delegation are hosted by Gulf College in the Sultanate of Oman.

At the invitation of Gulf College, a delegation from Northern Technical University, led by the President Dr. Alyaa Abbas Al-Attar, made an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman. The visit aimed to enhance academic cooperation, support innovation and entrepreneurship, and explore avenues for international accreditation.

The visit included a series of intensive meetings at Gulf College, covering various topics, the most prominent of which were the development of technology parks and business incubators, mechanisms for transforming research ideas into products and startups, as well as reviewing the requirements for international accreditations and qualifications and how to align them with the plans of Northern Technical University to improve program quality and enhance educational and employment outcomes.

The field visit included familiarization with leading Omani experiences; the delegation visited the Knowledge Oasis in Muscat (the technology oasis) and learned about the infrastructure supporting research and development and startups. They discussed opportunities for exchanging expertise and students, establishing joint training programs, and applied research projects that serve labor market priorities.

Dr. Alyaa Abbas Al-Attar emphasized that Northern Technical University places special importance on building quality regional partnerships that contribute to transforming the university into a productive environment for innovation. This supports plans for international academic accreditation and empowers students and graduates with entrepreneurship skills and modern technologies.

The meetings concluded with practical work pathways, the most notable of which are:
– Developing a joint roadmap for establishing a technology park and business incubators at Northern Technical University.
– Exchanging expertise in the field of quality assurance and academic accreditation.
– Activating programs for mutual visits for faculty members and students.
– Organizing forums and specialized workshops in the fields of innovation and technology transfer.

This visit is part of Northern Technical University’s strategy to establish strategic partnerships that contribute to supporting its vision for quality education and enhancing competitiveness, and it strengthens the alignment of its academic programs with the requirements of the knowledge economy.
