The Technical Research Center, in collaboration with the Continuous Education Center at the University, held a scientific course entitled ‘How to Choose and Correspond with Reputable Scientific Journals.’ The course aimed to:
Identify reputable scientific journals specializing in corresponding with accredited international publishing houses and how to address them, as well as ways to meet the requirements of reputable scientific research.
The course covered:
An introduction to the components and content of reputable scientific research.
An overview of reputable international publishing houses such as SCOPUS, CLARIVATE, WILEY, and ELSEVIER, and how to choose journals and the publishing conditions and instructions for each.
Direct application for submitting a specific scientific research to a journal within the SCOPUS website.
Documenting the steps of submission and correspondence between the researcher and the scientific journal, and how to make amendments and meet the financial value for publishing, if any.
The recommendations were:
Identifying the scientific journal and ensuring its credibility through the number and level of published research, the impact factor, and the person responsible for its publication.
Identifying the specific specialties accredited for publication in the scientific journal and the entity responsible for issuing the journal’s editions, in addition to examining the journal on websites to ensure it is not classified among fake or for-profit journals by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Following up on the ministerial updates for lists of for-profit and fake journals, in addition to journals that have been removed from reputable websites such as Scopus.
