The Northern Technical University organized a seminar titled (The Child’s Right to Life, Legislation, and Education) under the patronage of the esteemed President of the Northern Technical University, Dr. Aliyah Abbas Al-Attar, and under the direct supervision of the respected Dean of the Technical Institute in Kirkuk, Dr. Ashti Mahdi Aref.

The Northern Technical University organized a seminar titled (The Child’s Right to Life, Legislation, and Education) under the patronage of the esteemed President of the Northern Technical University, Dr. Aliyah Abbas Al-Attar, and under the direct supervision of the respected Dean of the Technical Institute in Kirkuk, Dr. Ashti Mahdi Aref.

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Technical Institute in Kirkuk organized a seminar titled (The Child’s Right to Life, Education, and Training) with speaker: Engineer (Browin Tayyib Hassan).The seminar discussed: 1- The concept of the child’s right to life 2- The reference for this right: • The Holy Quran and the noble Prophetic Hadith emphasized the importance of protecting the child • International charters 3- Violations of this right 4- The role of the family and society 5- The role of the state.The seminar addressed: “Children’s Rights” focusing on several key aspects aimed at enhancing awareness of the importance of protecting children and ensuring they enjoy all their rights. The lecture introduced children’s rights as established by international agreements, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, with an emphasis on their rights to education, health, protection from violence, and the right to express their opinions. We also discussed the role of the family, school, and community in supporting these rights, along with the major challenges that may face children, such as poverty, neglect, and violence, and ways to address them. It was emphasized that collective action is essential to ensure a safe and stimulating environment for children’s growth. The goal of the seminar: The aim of the children’s rights lecture is to educate participants, whether they are students, teachers, parents, or community members, about the importance of children’s rights and their role in building a fair and safe society for children. Recommendations: Five important recommendations following the children’s rights lecture: 1- Increase awareness of children’s rights within families and schools through dialogues, educational activities, and awareness programs, so that everyone understands children’s rights and their responsibilities towards them. 2- Strengthen the role of schools in protecting children by providing a safe, violence-free environment.Training teachers to engage with students in a proper educational manner. 3- Encouraging children to express their opinions, listening to them, and respecting their views, according to their age, as this fosters self-confidence and enhances a sense of dignity. 4- Reporting any violations of children’s rights, whether it be violence, neglect, or exploitation, through legal channels or specialized organizations for child protection. 5- Joint efforts between family and community to protect the child; cooperation among parents, schools, and civil society is essential to ensure a healthy and safe environment for the child’s growth and development.
