الجامعة التقنية الشمالية تناقش تصميم وتحليل نظام الطاقة الشمسية

A master’s thesis was researched at the Technical Engineering College/Mosul, specialized in Electrical Power Engineering, titled “Solar Power System Design and Analysis over Mosul Dam Lake.”
The thesis presented the design of a floating solar power station on Mosul Dam Lake, highlighting the potential of floating photovoltaic systems in terms of energy production and reduced panel temperature compared to traditional systems. It also included the design of a calculation circuit for carbon emissions rates.
The aim of the thesis was to enhance the electricity production from the photovoltaic system, obtaining clean and sustainable energy free from carbon emissions, and reducing water evaporation rates from the lake.
The thesis recommended the implementation of such projects to support power stations and the use of dual-sided panels with tracking, comparing their productivity and economic aspects with the designed system, along with a comparison between the floating system and ground-based systems, accompanied by an economic feasibility analysis.
During the defense, attendees included the Deputy Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Jad’an Ali, the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering Technologies, Prof. Dr. Layth Akram Mohammed, as well as several department faculty members and postgraduate students.
