The Higher Council for Quality at the Northern Technical University held its first meeting for the new 2025-2026 annual celebrations. The meeting was chaired by the University President, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and attended by all members, at the College of Engineering Technology for Computer and Artificial Intelligence/Mosul.

The University President began her address with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the pivotal role the Council plays in establishing a culture of quality and academic accreditation. She stressed the necessity of teamwork to achieve excellence and enhance the university’s educational outcomes.

During the meeting, the Council discussed the mechanism for updating local accreditation data and overcoming associated obstacles, in addition to the program accreditation file for engineering, health, and medical technical specializations. A select group of experts in engineering and technical education participated in the discussion. The meeting also discussed establishing unified standards for university staff, ensuring quality across all university departments, and implementing the ISO quality management system across various disciplines. It also addressed international accreditation requirements in engineering, health, agriculture, and administration.

Regarding academic rankings, the council reviewed the academic descriptions of the university’s scientific departments and their progress within the Iraqi national ranking, in addition to their international rankings.

The meeting also included a presentation by Dr. Ahmed Jassim Sultan, Assistant Professor and member of the Program Accreditation Council for Engineering and Technical Disciplines, as well as a presentation by Professor Dr. Tarek El-Khouly from Delta University in Egypt.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the university president emphasized the ongoing commitment of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department and the council members to ensuring the continued accreditation and quality of educational programs for young students, thereby strengthening the position of the Northern Technical University within the national framework.
