2025-12-21The College Concludes a Scientific Course on Low-Carbon Agriculture as a Strategic Option for Sustainable Development and Food Security
Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and under the guidance of the Dean of the Technical Agricultural College, Prof. Dr. Shihab Ahmed Al-Bajari, the Quality Assurance and University Performance Division, in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Department and within the framework of sustainable development activities, concluded a scientific course entitled “Low-Carbon Agriculture as a Strategic Option for Sustainable Development and Food Security.”

The course addressed the concept of low-carbon agriculture, its most important technologies, and its role in improving soil fertility, rationalizing the use of natural resources, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It also highlighted the contribution of this agricultural approach to confronting climate change challenges and supporting the sustainability of agricultural production systems.
The course aimed to promote a culture of sustainable agriculture and to introduce participants to the importance of adopting low-carbon farming systems that help protect the environment, enhance food security, and achieve the goals of sustainable development at both local and national levels.
At the conclusion of the course, several key recommendations were put forward, most notably the need to adopt low-carbon agriculture techniques within future agricultural plans, encourage scientific research and applied studies in sustainable agriculture, strengthen cooperation between academic institutions and relevant stakeholders to transfer and apply these technologies in the field, organize continuous training courses and workshops to enhance the capacities of students and farmers, and support agricultural policies that contribute to reducing carbon emissions while preserving natural resources.
A number of faculty members and staff of the Technical Agricultural College – Mosul participated in the course, reflecting the college’s ongoing commitment to supporting environmentally friendly agricultural practices and addressing contemporary challenges related to climate change and food security.
