The campaign for empowering women against violence against women at the Technical Institute Kirkuk

The campaign for empowering women against violence against women at the Technical Institute Kirkuk

was launched today, Sunday, the 17th of December 2023, under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Dr. Aliaa Abbas Al-Attar, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ashti Mahdi Aref, the Dean of the Technical Institute in Kirkuk. The unit for empowering women, in collaboration with the Government Media and Communication Department at the Technical Institute in Kirkuk, initiated its activities for a week of combating violence against women. Posters and publications were distributed in the corridors, departments, sections, and units of the Technical Institute in Kirkuk for the staff and students, addressing how to combat the phenomenon of violence against women in particular, and about families in general, which are considered a priority in violence against women. It is one of the most common forms of violence associated with social gender, which may include physical, psychological, sexual, economic, and emotional abuse. Violence against women arises from the pressures of daily life, family conflicts, misunderstanding, neglect, or unemployment, and is also a result of various diseases. Students were educated on ways to address violence against women, including believing the victim and not constantly blaming her, to avoid mistreatment, as women do not deserve abuse, but should be treated as instructed by our great messenger, Muhammad (PBUH), who described them as delicate vessels, as they are mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, and the flower of life and its joy. This week of combating violence against women will continue with seminars and workshops in collaboration with civil society organizations, human rights, and others.
