Transportation Policies for Northern Technical University
The following transportation policies are established to ensure optimum convenience for both students and staff at Northern Technical University, while prioritizing the health and safety of all individuals traveling to and from the university campus. This policy encompasses various types of trips for employees, students, and visitors. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of climate change mitigation in striving to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.
Transportation Policy for University Vehicles
All university vehicles are designated solely for official university business and events. To ensure safety, the university mandates that all drivers must be at least 21 years old and possess a minimum of five years of driving experience for university vans or shuttles, and three years for personal vehicles. Vehicles must not be kept on campus overnight or for extended periods unless prior reservations are made. The consumption of alcoholic beverages and illegal substances is strictly prohibited within these vehicles at all times.
Low Carbon Transportation Strategy
Northern Technical University is dedicated to addressing the challenges posed by climate change through its low carbon transportation strategy. The university highly values its commitment to reducing carbon footprints as part of its overarching vision. To promote sustainability, the university encourages the use of public transportation, including buses and shuttles, as alternatives to personal vehicles to minimize carbon emissions. Staff and students are prohibited from using their own vehicles to transport students for university-sponsored off-campus events, such as field trips and scientific excursions. The university provides buses for such activities and actively encourages staff and students to utilize hybrid and electric vehicles by offering designated free parking for electric cars.
Parking Management System
The university has developed an integrated parking management system to facilitate convenient transportation for employees and students. NTU campuses have limited parking areas used by university staff only and others designated for those who used bicycles, electric motors, and cars in addition to the visitors. parking areas are designed with health and safety considerations in mind and are equipped with the necessary safety tools. All staff members must obtain permits to access the parking facilities. These permits are allocated through a managed application system, and staff requiring parking are encouraged to apply for permission via this system. Additionally, the university ensures that disabled parking spaces are strategically located near accessible routes to university buildings.
