Sustainability and Inclusion Council (SIC)

Establishment of the Sustainability and Inclusion Council (SIC)

The Sustainability and Inclusion Council (SIC) at Northern Technical University was established in 2023 as part of the university’s commitment to advancing sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion within the academic community. Recognizing the need for a dedicated body to address these interconnected issues, the university administration formed the Council to provide strategic guidance on the integration of sustainability practices and inclusive policies across all facets of university life.

The establishment of the SIC followed extensive consultations with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders, all of whom emphasized the importance of creating a more inclusive and environmentally responsible campus. The Council was designed to ensure that sustainability and inclusion efforts are implemented in a coordinated and effective manner, helping the university meet its long-term social, environmental, and academic goals.

Since its inception, the Sustainability and Inclusion Council has played a vital role in shaping policies, organizing initiatives, and fostering an inclusive academic environment, all of which contribute to the university’s broader mission of promoting global citizenship and responsible leadership.
