President of Northern Technical University Attends Master’s Thesis Defense at the Agricultural Technical College of Mosul.

Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University, attended the defense of a Master’s thesis in the Department of Plant Production Technologies at the Agricultural Technical College of Mosul. The thesis, presented by student Saael Basim Mohammed Ali, is titled: “A Study on the Effect of Fungicidal Dusting on the Growth and Yield of Wheat Under Different Planting Dates.”
The session was also attended by:
Prof. Dr. Shihab Ahmed Al-Bajjari, Dean of the Agricultural Technical College,
Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Fadhel, Dean of the Medical Technical Institute,
The Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department.
The thesis explored the role of fungicides—specifically the method of dusting—in combating fungal infections and protecting wheat crops. The study aimed to:
Determine the effectiveness of fungicidal dusting in reducing fungal infections at various growth stages of wheat.
Assess its impact on physiological traits and vegetative growth of the plant.
Examine the relationship between planting dates (early, mid, and late) and the severity of fungal infection.
Evaluate how these treatments affect the overall wheat yield and its components (number of spikes, grains per spike, 1000-grain weight, total yield).
Provide practical recommendations to farmers regarding the optimal planting date and best fungicide treatments to maximize yield and minimize disease impact.
Following a thorough discussion and defense of the research, the thesis was awarded a grade of “Excellent.”
The examination committee consisted of:
Prof. Dr. Abdul-Sattar Ismeer Jasim – Chair
Asst. Prof. Dr. Jinan Qasim Khurshid – Member
Lect. Dr. Haitham Abdul-Sattar Saeed – Member
Asst. Prof. Dr. Jasim Abdullah Hayawi – Member & Supervisor
Asst. Prof. Dr. Safaa Mahmood Sultan – Member & Supervisor
President Al-Attar praised the quality of the research and emphasized the university’s ongoing support for postgraduate studies that contribute to scientific advancement and address real agricultural challenges.
