President of Northern Technical University Appoints Acting Dean for the Technical Engineering College of Computer and Artificial Intelligence / Kirkuk.

In alignment with the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, to invest in the expertise of scholars and leverage the capabilities of returning academics, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University, has assigned Assistant Professor Dr. Muntadhar Ayedhi Shareef to serve as Acting Dean of the Technical Engineering College of Computer and Artificial Intelligence / Kirkuk.
Dr. Muntadhar holds the following academic qualifications:
– B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Baghdad (2006–2009)– Ph.D. in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering from Michigan State University, USA (2019)
He has held several academic and administrative positions, including:
– Head of the Department of Electronics and Control (2020–2024)
Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department, Technical Engineering College Kirkuk (2024–end of the 2024–2025 academic year)
– Rapporteur of the Software Engineering Department (2010–2012)
Currently, Dr. Muntadhar manages both the CISCO Academy and the English Language Center at the Technical Engineering College / Kirkuk. He brings over 14 years of academic experience, having contributed significantly to the university’s development through his roles in the Supreme Quality Council, the Ministerial Committee for Technical Education Evaluation, and several university committees focused on programmatic and institutional accreditation.
Dr. Muntadhar has an impressive research record, with over 25 scientific publications in prestigious international journals and an H-index of 8 on Scopus. In 2022, he was awarded a patent for a hot water-activated artificial muscle material.
He has supervised more than 25 undergraduate graduation projects and 7 Master’s students, with research interests spanning bio-inspired smart sensors, smart materials, AI in IoT, and renewable energy. He is highly proficient in simulation tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, MATLAB, and programming languages including Python, VHDL, and C++. He has participated in numerous international conferences focused on smart materials and bio-robotics, and has made notable scientific contributions in journals such as Bioinspiration & Biomimetics and IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics.
