Northern Technical University Student Wins Second Place Worldwide at Startup Weekend Mosul 2026

A student from the College of Engineering Technologies at Northern Technical University, Waadullah Mushriq Saleh, registered with the Technological Incubator Unit at the College of Engineering Technologies, achieved a global distinction by securing second place at the international event Startup Weekend Mosul 2026. The event witnessed wide participation from entrepreneurs, programmers, and specialists from various universities and disciplines, aiming to support innovation and transform entrepreneurial ideas into implementable projects within an intensive time frame.

This achievement was attained through his entrepreneurial project Iraq Gate, the largest tourism platform in Iraq, introduced for the first time as a smart guide and personal assistant that accompanies users step by step. The platform provides information and locations of archaeological sites and offers various services, including hotels, restaurants, tourism companies, electronic tourism tickets, and many other services.

The event was held as part of an intensive program that lasted 54 consecutive hours and was implemented at the Mosul Center for Culture and Science in partnership with GIZ Iraq, within the framework of the Team Europe Initiative #TAEUFIQ, and with joint funding from the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany.
