Northern Technical University witnessed a remarkable and distinctive event, represented by the inauguration of the Innovation Lab for the first time among Iraqi universities, with the attendance of a select group of official and academic figures.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Haider Abd Dahd; the Chairman of the Parliamentary Education Committee, Professor Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayat; the Governor of Nineveh, Abdul Qadir Al-Dakhil; the presidents of the region’s technical universities; the President of the Middle Technical University; the President of the Middle Euphrates Technical University; the President of the Southern Technical University; the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Noor University, Dr. Bashar Mahmoud; a number of directors of Ministry of Education departments; a deputy in the Parliamentary Education Committee; the Head of the Supervisory Authority in Kurdistan; and a representative of the Minister of Education in Kurdistan, in addition to a group of officials and academics. The event was attended by the President of Northern Technical University, who cut the ribbon, which making her the first Iraqi university president to open an innovation lab of this caliber within the Iraqi universities . This is a qualitative step that reflects the university leadership’s support for scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The Innovation Lab aims to provide an interactive environment for students and researchers, enabling them to transform creative ideas into applied projects and enhancing cooperation between the university and the industrial and technology sectors.
Attendees praised this pioneering initiative, emphasizing that it represents a true starting point for developing higher education and strengthening the scientific research and innovation system in Iraq.
