Northern Technical University Participates in Dialogue Seminar on the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325.

Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Aliaa Abbas Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University, the university took part in a dialogue seminar discussing the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security.
The university was represented by the Director of the Department of Media and Government Communications and the Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University Presidency, both of whom are members of the Committee to Combat Violence Against Women in Nineveh Governorate.
The seminar, titled “UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security: Implementation and Challenges,” was held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, and organized by Al-Masalla Organization for Human Resource Development, in collaboration with the Nineveh Provincial Council. The event was attended by Ms. Rafi’a Mohammed, Director of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Nineveh Governorate Office, along with representatives from various governmental departments and civil society organizations.
This seminar is part of the “Women’s Voices in Nineveh” program, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It highlighted the importance of Resolution 1325 in promoting women’s participation in peacebuilding and decision-making processes, and addressed key challenges faced by women in Nineveh in the post-conflict context.
Discussions also included the Iraqi National Action Plan for the implementation of the resolution, with an emphasis on the need for coordinated efforts between governmental institutions and civil society organizations to support and empower women.
