Northern Technical University Organizes Workshop on the Role of Continuing Education in Skill Development to Meet Labor Market Needs in the Era of Digital Economy.

In line with its commitment to enhancing skills and developing capabilities in accordance with the demands of the digital age, the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department at the Northern Technical University organized a workshop titled “The Role of Continuing Education in Skill Development to Meet Labor Market Needs in the Era of Digital Economy”. The event took place at the University’s main center.
The workshop targeted a range of participants, including department heads, faculty members, staff, as well as undergraduate and graduate students. Its aim was to highlight the importance of continuing education as an effective tool for developing human capabilities and equipping individuals with the digital skills required by today’s labor market.
The keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Mahmoud, a member of the Iraqi Institutional Accreditation Council, presented a comprehensive lecture covering various aspects of digital economy concepts, the importance of digital transformation in education, and the role of continuous training in enhancing human resource efficiency. He emphasized the need for adopting flexible educational strategies that keep pace with rapid technological advancements.
In her opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University, highlighted that continuing education is a fundamental pillar in the University’s strategy to adapt to digital transformations and improve academic work environments. She noted that the University consistently strives to organize workshops and seminars that contribute to preparing human resources capable of adapting to the demands of the digital economy and the global labor market.
At the conclusion of the workshop, a discussion session was held, where attendees shared insightful ideas and constructive suggestions, contributing to a deeper understanding of the role of continuing education in building future capabilities and achieving sustainable development.
