Northern Technical University Organizes Forum on the Role of Academic Women in Building a Sustainable Digital Future.

Under the patronage and presence of its President, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, and with the attendance of Dr. Nada Mutair Abbas Al-Abbadi, Director of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, along with the deans of the university’s colleges and institutes in Nineveh, and a large number of university staff, the Northern Technical University, in collaboration with the Technical Engineering College of Computer and Artificial Intelligence, held a scientific forum today titled: “The Role of Academic Women in Building a Sustainable Digital Future.” The event was hosted in the college’s conference hall and held under the slogan: “Academic Women Shaping the Future Towards Digital Empowerment and Sustainable Cybersecurity.”
The forum opened with a speech by the university president, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, who emphasized the importance of empowering women in academic and technological fields and highlighted their vital role in driving digital transformation and strengthening cybersecurity in Iraq. This was followed by a speech from the Director of the Women’s Affairs Department and the screening of introductory videos illustrating women’s contributions in this field.
The forum also featured an inspiring success story of Dr. Aven Najm, an Iraqi-origin Ph.D. holder in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics from Cardiff University in the UK.
The forum included panel discussions and academic lectures covering several key themes:
Challenges faced by academic women in technology and digital transformation fields.
Ways to enhance women’s participation in developing digital infrastructure.
The role of academic women in strengthening cybersecurity and building a secure digital society.
The event witnessed wide participation from female academics, researchers, and students. It also featured initiatives launched by college students, including a creative gift from the Cybersecurity Department students: a portrait of the university president crafted using block arrangement techniques.
It is worth noting that this forum comes as part of Northern Technical University’s ongoing efforts to enhance the role of women in technological and academic fields, reaffirming its commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to building a sustainable digital future in Iraq.
