Northern Technical University Organizes a Symposium on Women, Politics, and Building the Future.

Under the patronage of the President of Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the Women’s Affairs Division at Northern Technical University organized a symposium on Women and Politics: Breaking Barriers and Building the Future…
The symposium, organized in cooperation with the Personnel Affairs Division and the Nineveh Technical Administration Institute, was delivered by Dr. Shaima Ali Salem, with the participation of a group of university affiliates.
The topic included four axes: the first was devoted to highlighting the importance of women’s representation.
The second was devoted to identifying the factors hindering women’s political participation; the third was devoted to strategies to support women’s political participation; and the fourth axis presented proposed solutions to support this participation.
The symposium concluded with proposed mechanisms to support and enhance women’s ability to participate politically and work institutionally, the most prominent of which were the following:
– Adopting the necessary legislative, political, and regulatory measures to remove the structural obstacles that hinder women’s access to decision-making positions.
Identifying alternative ways to overcome the economic obstacles facing women.
Providing incentives to help women balance the demands of professional life and family life.
Taking positive measures to ensure women’s exercise of their rights to political participation, voting, and running for elected office.
It is worth noting that the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has directed the need to conduct awareness-raising activities to raise women’s political awareness.
