Under the patronage of the President of the Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance at the Presidency of our University, in cooperation with the Division of Quality Assurance and University Performance at the Kirkuk Technical Institute, organized a scientific workshop entitled (Global Warming and Reducing Emissions)

This workshop dealt with the definition of global warming, its causes and effects, and ways to reduce the effects of this phenomenon

The workshop indicated that this phenomenon is when the sun’s heat is trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere after it enters it, which raises the Earth’s temperature and makes it warmer, and that the main greenhouse gases whose concentrations increase are carbon dioxide and methane.

The causes of this phenomenon are human and natural.

Human factors such as burning fossil fuels, burning forests, animal husbandry, industrial waste, and waste burning, and natural factors such as solar activity and volcanoes.

The workshop indicated that this phenomenon has effects on human health, the climate, and the ecological system.

The workshop aims to introduce the phenomenon of global warming, its causes and effects, and ways to reduce the effects of this phenomenon.

The workshop came out with several conclusions, including that the global warming phenomenon has a clear impact on the ecosystem of living organisms and the climate, especially during the last fifty years, so measures must be taken to reduce this phenomenon.
