Northern Technical University is transforming its institutes into polytechnic colleges.

Northern Technical University has achieved a remarkable academic achievement by transforming into a polytechnic college system, comprising Mosul Polytechnic College, Hawija Polytechnic College, and Kirkuk Polytechnic College. This historic step reinforces its position as a leading technical higher education institution in Iraq.
Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University, emphasized that this transformation represents a qualitative leap that keeps pace with the requirements of the current era and aligns with global trends in technical education. She explained that it will open up broad horizons for students and graduates, elevating infrastructure and academic programs to a higher level of development and modernization.
She, also, indicated that adopting the polytechnic model provides greater flexibility in establishing academic departments that award bachelor’s degrees, contributing to the preparation of specialized competencies that meet the needs of the labor market and support national development projects. She also praised the great support of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, stressing that this achievement reflects the Ministry’s strategic vision to build a competent generation capable of competing regionally and internationally, enhancing the position of Iraqi technical universities on the global academic map. The university president concluded her statement by saying: “As the Northern Technical University celebrates this historic achievement today, it affirms its determination to be a pioneering scientific beacon and a modern academic edifice, keeping pace with the times and serving the future of our students and our country.”
