In a unique and distinguished step at the level of Iraqi universities,
Northern Technical University hosts a specialized ministerial workshop on activating the strategic agreement with Clarivate Foundation.
As part of national efforts to develop the scientific research system in Iraq and strengthen its connection with international indicators, Northern Technical University hosted an important scientific workshop, organized by the Research and Development Department of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with our Northern Technical University, under the title:
“Activating the strategic agreement between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the global Clarivate Foundation.”
The workshop was held with the participation of a specialized ministerial delegation from the Department of Research and Development, and with the active and distinguished presence of the President of Northern Technical University, Prof. Dr. Aliaa Abbas Al-Attar, in addition to a group of elite members of Northern Technical University, including deans, heads of departments, and lecturers, in addition to a high-level, multidisciplinary academic presence from representatives of public and private universities in the northern governorates.
The workshop focused on ways to leverage the cooperation agreement concluded with Clarivate, one of the world’s leading institutions specializing in the classification of scientific journals and research according to international accreditation standards. Clarivate is a pivotal tool for enhancing the quality of Iraqi scientific research and linking it to peer-reviewed global publishing platforms.
The workshop also highlighted mechanisms for supporting Iraqi researchers in publishing in Web of Science databases, activating the use of scientific analysis tools and research citations, and identifying institutional development paths to raise the level of accredited Iraqi journals.
The Ministry of Higher Education’s initiative to enable Iraqi universities to actively engage in the global research ecosystem was commended, through these unique agreements that contribute to enhancing academic competitiveness and maximizing research and development outcomes.
The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations that represent a roadmap for universities and academic institutions to enhance the quality of scientific publishing and ensure compliance with international accreditation standards. Participants engaged in a remarkable discussion, emphasizing the importance of holding such specialized workshops on a regular basis.
