Northern Technical University Hosted a Distinguished Scientific Event for Universities in the Northern Region Titled: Mechanisms of International Cooperation – The Erasmus+ Program as a Model .

For the first time at the level of Iraqi universities, Northern Technical University hosted a distinguished scientific event for universities in the northern region under the title: “Mechanisms of International Cooperation – The Erasmus+ Program as a Model.” This event is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to internationalize higher education and enhance academic and scientific collaboration with regional and international institutions.

This workshop is considered one of the foundational pillars in the university’s journey toward active engagement in international projects. The Erasmus+ program was chosen as a successful model in the field of academic cooperation due to its crucial role in capacity building, human resource development, and opening wide horizons for students, faculty members, and educational institutions alike.

The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Northern Technical University, under the patronage of the esteemed Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and supervised by Dr. Alyaa Abbas Ali Al-Attar, the President of Northern Technical University. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Muwafaq Sajit Samir, Director of the International and Arab Organizations Department in the ministry, who provided a comprehensive presentation on the mechanisms for joining international projects, Iraq’s experience with Erasmus+ programs, and the importance of developing international cooperation units in universities.

The workshop witnessed significant attendance, including:
– University presidents and government institutions
– Directors of scholarships and cultural relations departments
– Erasmus+ unit officials from government and private universities in the northern provinces
– Deans of colleges, heads of academic departments, and several staff members of the Northern Technical University

Dr. Alyaa Abbas Al-Attar praised the substantial support provided by the ministry for holding such specialized scientific workshops, emphasizing that these activities are foundational in enhancing international work and academic internationalization, as well as contributing to the success of the university’s international project in collaboration with global universities.

The workshop concluded with a set of practical recommendations that enhance the readiness of Iraqi universities to participate in international academic partnership programs, amid notable engagement and praise from attendees regarding the high-quality content of the workshop and the opportunities it provided for networking and exchanging experiences.
